Numerology; ”the study of the connection between numbers and human circumstances” (Hall, 2014).
There’s no doubt that everything in this world is made up of energies and vibrations. This means that everything has its own energies and releases and attracts certain energies as a result thereof. This has been studied and concluded time after time by various scholars within the field of science such as Bohr, Newton, Hawking etc. It’s science – quantum physics (Walia, 2014). I know… It’s a scary thought.
“If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet. Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real” (Niels Bohr as cited in Walia, 2014).
In short, this means that just like a fingerprint, everything in this world, of course, including us, human beings, aren’t solid, however, are beings of energy and vibration – beings radiating our own unique energy signature. As a result, we, as human beings, not only release energies we also attract certain energies. With this in mind, the belief of numerology builds on this fact and is a belief that studies the connection and interrelation between energies and human circumstances.
As mentioned in earlier posts, my goal in life has been to become a traveler ever since I was a child. On this journey, I always have my goal in mind through various and different life changing moments and decisions – all in order to shape the person I know I have to become in order to follow and fulfill that dream. As such, I do what I can to come closer to making that dream reality – be it education, student jobs, internships, friends etc. and, of course, most importantly, by traveling.
On my journey, I early on discovered the belief of numerology. By coincident, numerology caught my attention when I was 13-years-old. It caught my attention in a way that I can best explain as being driven to it. I realize that this doesn’t make much sense, however, it’s my only explanation – I was drawn to it.
Although, I’m a belief-skeptic person, I have an open mind. I don’t practice religion or anything like that, as I don’t like the idea of anyone having control over my life. I want to control my life. And numerology presented me with an opportunity of doing exactly so. Because, by changing names, I changed the energies that I not only release but also attract. This way, I had an opportunity to shape my life and decide what I let into it – energy-wise, that is. Of course, this doesn’t mean that a person won’t have to work for his or her goals, it, simply, means that you attract and release the right energies for you in the process. (In this sense, I must stress that according to numerology, people consist of a core. This core cannot be changed. What can be changed are the energies that lies in for example your names – every letter has a number and every number has an energy).
For you out there who doesn’t know of numerology, numerology is the study of the connection between numbers and human circumstances. It is a belief that studies the energies linked to numbers and their effect on people and their lives by looking into the numbers in your life such as your birthday and the sum of your full name etc. and how these interrelate. According to old scripts, it is a belief that dates back to the 6th century B.C. where ancient scholars and numerologists such as Socrates, Pythagoras and Cheiro (much later, also Newton) studied and taught numerology (Hall, 2014; Kofoed, 2013).
From when I discovered numerology and within that year, I had found the right numerologist for me, changed my names (I inserted two middle names and kept my first and last name, as they fitted me) and, as a result, I had changed as a person. I had now gone from a rather shy girl to quite the opposite. Moreover, I had become determined, persistent and not afraid of dreaming big and telling people about these dreams. I had become willing to risk. Of course, some would argue that as I changed my names when I was a teenager, my life was unraveling before my eyes anyway and that I probably would have formed into the person I am today anyway… Arguing that it most likely didn’t have any effect after all. I disagree. I felt the change. As a person, I felt the change. No doubt about it… Furthermore, having been part of the world of numerology for over a decade now, I have seen first hand how lives have changed for people as they changed their names. Recently, my sister has made this discovery herself when she changed her names a couple of months ago.
I agree, as something this abstract, it can seem like a rather drastic step to take at such a young age. All I can say to that is, it felt like the right thing to do. And as a person that always follows her guts, I acted on this feeling. Luckily, it still feels right, and I haven’t regretted my decision to change names for one moment. On the contrary. I believe in myself and my decision. I also believe that my change has shaped my life – the path that I’m on – and helped me become this highly determined, stubborn young woman that chases her dream no matter what challenges and preventions that get in the way.
So why am I writing this post? I am writing this post for various reasons. My main reason is to tell you about my story in the hope of people becoming more open-minded about the subject. At least, for acceptance and respect concerning my choice. In a society where knowledge – right and wrong – is the driving force and the belief of numerology being a rather abstract one, I, as an academician, completely understand why it is so difficult to believe in. But… I’m not asking you too. I am, however, asking you to respect my choice. My personal choice. My personal choice that doesn’t affect you as a person. That’s all… There’s nothing worse than having people judging you for who you are without even trying to understand you. You come a long way with respecting others – even if you don’t understand them.
